5PC Forstner Bits Set in wooden box

Feature:

Made of high carbon steel. Consisting of a centering tip which guides during the cut, 2 main cutting edges, and 2 radial cutting edges to plane off the material at the bottom of the hole.

Right hand cutting, forged version.

Forstner bits have no mechanism to clear chips from the hole, and must be pulled out periodically to do this.

A forstner bit requires great force to push it into the material, so is normally used in drill presses or lathes rather than in portable drills.

Application:

For drilling exceedingly smooth-sided, precise, flat-bottomed holes in wood, veneered wooden boards, etc.
